The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none who does good. Psalm 53:1 (ESV)
Since the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is the source from which that fear begins. The Bible tells me that the source of being a fool is denying that God exists. But it is not simply an academic denial, nor a cultural denial. It is viceral! The fool is making this statement from his heart. So it is the opposite of wisdom isn’t it. When we who know God and His salvation fear Him, it is based on our hearts recognizing who God has revealed Himself to be and from that comes the fear I mentioned yesterday.
Is there anything more clear from scripture than the polar opposites of wisdom and foolishness?
