For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 2 Corinthians 5:1–5 (ESV)
If I spend my time thinking about what I don’t know, I miss out on so much. If I spend time dwelling on how I FEEL rather than what I KNOW I not only miss out on the blessings of the Truth, I also find myself on an emotional rollercoaster.
This passage is filled with encouragement for me to KNOW and be CERTAIN and not to allow myself flights of fancy or anxiety from the unknow. Now matter what this life entails, the good and the bad, I KNOW that there waits for me a place in glory that was guaranteed by His Spirit. It is His Word and His Spirit that give me confidence that I can know and not wonder, worry or wish.
